Frequently Asked Questions
What is beef tallow, and why is it good for skin?
Beef tallow is a nutrient-dense, rendered fat becoming popular for skincare due to its high compatibility with human sebum, making it effective for deep, long-lasting moisturization, especially for dry, sensitive, or eczema-prone skin. It is rich in fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, along with conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which help nourish the skin barrier, reduce inflammation, and improve skin elasticity.
Does it smell like beef?
Our Tallow is properly rendered and is scented with our own blend of essential oils which eliminates any smell of beef.
Is your tallow balm whipped?
We do not whip our tallow as it shortens shelf life due to oxidation. Whipped tallow is also poor value for money because of the volume of air introduced. Our tallow balm is rich, nutrient-dense and provides longer lasting nourishment for your skin.
How do I use the product?
A little goes a long way. Scoop a small amount, warm it between your fingers, and apply to slightly damp skin for best absorption. Our tallow balm is designed for frequent use; apply freely as needed.
Can I use it on my face?
Yes, it is suitable for the face, body, lips, and even as a hair mask. For external use only.
How should I store my tallow balm?
Keep in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Do not store in areas of high humidity. Natural fats are temperature-sensitive. The balm may become firmer in winter or softer/liquid in summer, but this does not affect its quality. If it melts, simply place it in the refrigerator to solidify again.
What is the shelf life?
Our tallow balm will last approximately 6 months from opening following the recommended storage guidelines.
Is this safe for long term use?
Our tallow balm can used long-term for most people, especially those with very dry or sensitive skin, due to its biocompatibility with human sebum.
Should I perform a patch test before using tallow balm?
Yes! While tallow is bio-compatible with human skin, everyone’s skin is unique. We recommend a patch test, especially if you have sensitive skin, allergies, or are trying a scented balm with essential oils for the first time.
What does Essence Of Gaia mean?
In ancient Greek mythology, Gaia is the personification of the Earth and the ancestral mother of all life.
"Essence of Gaia" refers to the core qualities of the Earth as a living, nurturing, and self-regulating system. It signifies a return to natural, ancestral skincare that aligns with the Earth's restorative powers.
